Michelle Rhode is a contemporary dancer teacher, Registered Massage Therapist, farmer and mother to three exuberant and physical children. Originally trained in classical ballet, Michelle enjoyed a long career in professional contemporary dance. Michelle spent five years under the directorship of Ginette Laurin at O Vertigo Danse in Montreal. During this time, she traveled with the company internationally performing and teaching regular workshops in interpretation, repertoire, yoga and partnering in the company’s highly physical and dynamic style. She has been a guest teacher at Dancestreams, Parksville Ballet School, Shadbolt Centre for the Arts and Adage Studios. She finds great inspiration for teaching dance fundamentals in her practice of yoga, qigong and farming her land in the Cowichan Valley.
