Benefits of Performing
More than just a place to learn a few steps, sing a few songs, recite a few lines or strum a few chords…this is a place to be who you are truly meant to be.
Benefits of Performance
We want all children to have the opportunity to perform on a regular basis. When children are regularly involved in performing, they’re building a presence about themselves. They are acquiring leadership, presentation and communication skills that will serve them throughout their lives. Performance helps all students, no matter what their personal style. Shy individuals are given the opportunity to open up and feel more confident! Other students find an outlet for their creativity and energy! Through the performing arts, students learn to create their own success by letting go of fear and releasing their natural self-expression. Students gain confidence, learn to think on their feet, expand creativity, improve social skills, and become more comfortable with handling new situations and transitions in their lives.
Benefits of Dance
Every person benefits from quality dance training, even though he or she may ultimately choose another career path. In dance, students learn the cooperative teamwork necessary to produce a high quality work of art. Students develop creative thinking skills and the ability to push themselves to higher achievements. They learn an immense amount about music and rhythm, and are introduced to the French language. Students also encounter spatial relationships and must think with both sides of their brain while learning to dance. All these skills have been shown to enhance academic performance, as well as their physical well-being. Self-confidence and self-esteem continue to develop as one conquers new movements and grows more certain of their ability to apply themselves, work hard, and master any task put before them. Growing through this artistic process helps one find the pathway to personal integrity and self-assured adulthood. They enter society with the ability to do well at whatever life places before them; and with the ability to maintain the uncompromising high standards absorbed during their dance training.
Benefits of Acting
Our acting program has been designed to give each student the opportunity to perform and work on skills that will help them throughout their lives. Our classes incorporate comedy and improv to help students instantly create a character, expand their vocabulary, solve problems creatively and even defuse situations. “Cold script reading” and audition skills, teach students how to pick up a script, analyze it quickly and perform it with confidence. Students learn how to take direction, change direction quickly, and make strong choices of their own; learning to be quick on their feet can help later in life during interview processes.
Technique
Technique can hold back the most artistic dancer or give them greater expression. Because the steps of ballet build from simpler to more complex, a problem of technique in one area will be magnified in other areas. That’s why learning the basic technique perfectly is so important. With the right instruction, any person can learn proper ballet technique and dance beautifully. The training of muscles and mind must start early. Building discipline, developing strength and stamina, and achieving grace in movement is the work of years of study; a process that never really ends. Classes are carefully designed to increase technical skills, stamina and discipline appropriate for their age and physical and mental development.
Classical Ballet Training
Classical ballet provides the foundation for all other dance forms. It is the most demanding, most disciplined of all dance forms; but also the most rewarding. With a solid ballet foundation, classically trained dancers can transfer their skills into jazz, modern dance, or any other dance form they might decide to pursue. Accomplishing that solid ballet foundation is crucial to becoming an outstanding dancer in any dance form.
