Jacquie de Jong-Seinen
Musical Theatre, Voice, Music Therapy
Jacquie has been singing most of her life. She began singing in choirs and soloing for the Victoria Police Choir as a teenager. The more she sang the more she wanted to sing.
As a young adult, she studied at the Victoria Conservatory of Music, Vancouver Community College (Diploma of Music), and finally at Capilano University (Bachelor of Music Therapy).
Jacquie has worked in a variety of settings using her voice as a healing modality. She has also worked as a music educator for pre-primary and primary programming in Vancouver and Victoria, specializing in Orf and Kindermusik (a holistic, elemental, childcentred approach to teaching music to infants and children). She has great fun co-facilitating a music appreciation program for the Elder College. She has also performed locally with the South Island Musical Theatre Society(SIMTS), as sister Sofia in the Sound of Music and with Encore! Women’s choir in which she had the exciting opportunity to sing with 200 women at Lincoln Centre’s Avery Fischer Hall in celebration of International Women’s Day in New York. She currently studies voice with Meredythe Broadway when time permits.
Jacquie loves teaching. It inspires her to see children and adults explore their own voices and she is skilled in helping aspiring singers to remove obstacles from the way of natural vocal production. She believes that anyone can sing!
